Ya know you're gettin' old

My oldest son turned 10 today. Seems like just a little while ago he was a baby, learning to walk. He's a really nice kid (of course I think so). When he opened his birthday card from us, he wanted to give back the money that was inside. He said he didn't need it. I remember when he was a baby chasing him everywhere. Now my 1 year old is walking. I get tired chasing him. Official: Old Man Dad.

Tonight we went to a restaurant for dinner. Really fun - just the family. My big boy eats like a grown up - he had one of his favorites, veal piccata.

What I like about Marin

In no particular order, these are things I like about living in Marin:
My son is able to ride his bike to and from school in the fourth grade. It gives him a great feeling of independence.
We go on family bike rides after work until it gets dark too soon. My son will call me on the way home to make sure we have time to ride.
My older son is getting an excellent public school education.
Plenty of afterschool activities in nice parks.
We live close enough to be in SF in twenty minutes.
The streets are clean.
Kids are respectful to elders and nice to littler kids.
It's a great small town atmosphere.
Walking in the morning on the weekend to get a coffee.
Neighbors talk to each other.
