Being a grown up

Here I am, 45 years old, realizing what it means to be a grown up. It seemed different in my parents' generation. I remember thinking they didn't seem to enjoy life a whole lot. I have my job I need to do every day, but after that I get to spend time with the family, just doing fun things. It can be a bike ride, playing playstation (and almost always losing), doing chores around the house with everybody helping, but I enjoy it much more than I think my parents did. Maybe it's also because I am choosing to focus around family rather than work. I learned a few years ago from someone who had been fairly successful one of his secrets. He finished work every day at 5. He said some mornings he had to get up at 4:30, but by God he was done by 5 to spend time with the family. All things considered, a good idea.

Just checking in

We've been very busy since summer. My niece and nephew have moved up with us to go to school. They're from Mexico and are doing great here. My nephew is taking cross country in high school also. It's a never ending race to get everybody to where they need to be. My 11 year old has been playing soccer and taking tae kwan do. My 18 year old niece is taking English classes four days a week before she enters college here. My two year old son is a non stop ball of energy. My wife holds everything together. I pretty much just go along for the ride. It's actually better being busy than not. Idle hands and so on. Daylight savings time is nice in the morning, not so much at night.

See ya
